From July 27 to 28, the 2026 APEC Ministerial Meeting on Forestry will be held in Shenzhen. As a high-profile event during APEC's host year in China, it focuses on showcasing ecological civilization achievements. The conference theme is “Building a Green Asia-Pacific, Sharing Ecological Well-being.” Senior representatives from APEC economies will engage in policy dialogues covering forest conservation, balanced ecological development and people's livelihood improvement, sci-tech innovation, and other key topics.
When referring to ecological well-being, people usually focus on tangible natural gifts such as forests, wetlands, clear skies, and clean waters. Yet one easily overlooked aspect of ecological well-being is the peace of auditory space.
A fully livable environment features not only accessible green scenery but also a quiet life free from noise disturbance. Excessively loud square dance music disturbing residents, campus broadcasts penetrating residential areas, and incessant commercial promotional noise — such excessive sound interference in cities is undermining people's auditory well-being.
